9/11 Anniversary: September 11 Snapshots & Stories

San Bruno, CA—Jarom Vahai, a 33-year-old Marine veteran who served two tours in Iraq, is a student at Skyline College in San Bruno. Now that he has completed his military service, during which he was severely injured, he is embarking on a new mission. As president of Skyline’s Veterans Club, he is determined to help other veterans find jobs—mostly in the auto and green industries where several Bay Area companies have taken interest in the veterans’ efforts. With so many U.S. veterans coming home from wars overseas, Vahai said he is also starting to see a new effort gaining momentum: a number of former troops who want to mobilize themselves and advocate for other veterans, young and old. Some of that momentum is building right in San Bruno, Vahai said. “It’s going to be similar to World War II,” he said. “I see a lot of veterans coming home who want to take charge and help the country in this bad economy. I’ve even started to see them taking positions of leadership for these huge efforts. So you’re going to see them campaigning for jobs and advocating for PTSD. It’s going to be a revival.”

Jarom,
You are an inspiration for all veterans and Americans alike.
Bill Chadwick
Jarom,
I am impressed with your work and wish you great success. Have you considered joining the fight for the LGBT? President Obama supports us and we need many strong leaders to help us win our rights? Keep up the good work!
Anyone who knows Jarome, understands his committment to theis effort. He started volunteering with us to help his fellow Veterans overcome their physsical and emotional challenges while at the same time dealing with those same issues himself. That energy translated into working on a much broader scale to help all Veterans. He needs our collective help to make this happen so if you can, make a difference like Jarome has. He’s done it one Vet at a time and that can be life changing.
Your efforts are EXEMPLARY! Keep doing, what you’re doing! Many veterans already have benefitted from your works.
